Destinations, builders, and the ideas behind the deal.
A short, evolving collection for buyers and charter clients — curated from the questions Richard is asked most.

Destination
The Western Mediterranean.
Monaco, the Côte d’Azur, Sardinia, the Balearics — the most heavily cruised, best-supported, most-photographed water in the world. The default summer for the largest yachts; high season runs late May through September.

Destination
The Caribbean.
The natural winter for yachts wintering out of the Med. The Eastern Caribbean from late November through April — Antigua and the Grenadines for charter, St Maarten for engineering, Nassau for Bahamas-side cruising.

Builders
Yards Richard tracks.
Oceanco, Lürssen, Benetti, Codecasa, Amels, CRN, Sanlorenzo, Custom Line, Cantiere delle Marche, Heesen, Trinity, Numarine. New construction order books at the largest yards are filled into 2029.

New Construction
Commissioning a yacht today.
A 50-to-70-metre custom build commissioned in 2026 will deliver in 2029 or 2030 from a top-tier Northern European yard. The build runs 24–36 months once a contract is signed; specification and pre-contract design adds 9–18 months on the front. Richard advises on yard selection, contract negotiation, and owner-side technical management.
