A 2022 Beneteau Grand Trawler 62, designed for long-distance cruising.

ABIDE AWHILE is not dressed up as a superyacht. Her appeal is more intelligent: a 2022 Beneteau Grand Trawler 62 built around autonomy, comfort and owner-friendly passagemaking.

Beneteau designed the Grand Trawler 62 around long-distance cruising rather than short-run glamour, combining autonomy with performance via a displacement hull developed by MICAD to improve range and efficiency. Interior and deck design are by Nauta Design, with accommodation for six to eight people plus crew and one of the largest flybridges in the segment.

The raised helm, 1,050-nautical-mile model range, generous flybridge and bright interior volumes form the ownership argument: a yacht for time on board, slow cruising and comfortable passages. This is for buyers who want a recent trawler platform, usable range and family-friendly volume in a format that makes sense.

The shipyard

Beneteau

Founded in 1884 by the shipwright Benjamin Bénéteau at Croix-de-Vie in the Vendée, Beneteau began building sail-powered fishing trawlers and remains headquartered on that same stretch of French Atlantic coast (the town is now Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie). The founder's grandchildren turned the yard to fibreglass in the mid-1960s, and its First 30, introduced in 1976, became the builder's first international success and opened the way to export. Today Beneteau is the namesake brand of Groupe Beneteau, widely described as the world's largest manufacturer of pleasure boats under sail and power. Its early cruising Oceanis models were drawn by Philippe Briand, while the one-design Figaro Bénéteau has long been the boat of the solo Solitaire du Figaro. The builder's reach into long-range motor yachts is shown by hulls such as the Grand Trawler 62 Abide Awhile (2022), built at Monfalcone in Italy on a MICAD-designed displacement hull with a range of roughly 1,050 nautical miles.
