The shipyard

Dunya Yachts is a family-owned custom superyacht builder established by Sedat Ergun in 2005, when he took the reins of the Ergun family's Tuzla shipyard near Istanbul and reoriented it towards large-yacht construction and refit. The waterfront site has been in the family since the 1950s and was developed into a working shipyard in 1983. Today the roughly 30,000-square-metre facility builds in steel and aluminium and, by the yard's own account, houses one of Turkey's only climate-controlled covered dry docks. The yard announced itself with the 72-metre Axioma (2013), whose pioneering open double-height main saloon by Alberto Pinto earned a Judges' Commendation in the 1,300 to 1,999 GT class at the 2014 World Superyacht Awards. More recently, the 47-metre explorer King Benji, delivered in 2024, took Best Interior Design (Motor Yachts under 500GT) for its Design Unlimited interior at the 2025 BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards.
