An aluminium explorer built for serious distance, with expedition capability and a full support inventory already in place.

COMPASS ROSE is a long-range displacement yacht for owners who want genuine autonomy in a manageable 50-metre-class platform. Built in aluminium by C. & G. Boatworks and refitted in 2015, she combines substantial volume, serious tankage and an engineering-first specification that makes her far more than an explorer-styled motor yacht.

The ownership case is unusually clear. COMPASS ROSE offers more than 9,000 nautical miles of range at 10 knots, 621GT of interior volume and accommodation for ten guests with a crew complement of ten. Her twin Caterpillar 3508B engines, gravity-fed day tanks, fuel-centrifuge purification and double-hull fuel configuration support the core promise of the yacht: distance with control.

Her technical profile is the strongest part of the story. Three 100kW generators, high-capacity watermakers, redundant sea chests, extensive fuel and oil management, emergency reserves and copper-nickel raw-water plumbing point to a yacht built for extended operation rather than occasional coastal use.

On deck, the inventory gives her real operational range: a 42ft Gamefisherman walkaround, a 30ft Munson Pack Cat landing craft, additional RIBs, personal watercraft and flats skiffs, making her suitable as a family cruiser, fishing platform, dive base or remote-cruising mothership.

The shipyard

C. & G. Boatworks

Founded by the Graham family in Bayou La Batre, Alabama in the 1980s and relocated to a purpose-built yard on Mobile’s Cochrane Bridge Road in 2001, C. & G. Boat Works built its reputation on rugged aluminium and steel workboats: crewboats, towboats, tugs and ferries, alongside US Navy patrol craft, completing well over a hundred hulls across its lifetime. That commercial and government pedigree carried into its rare venture into yachts: the 49-metre all-aluminium long-range expedition motor yacht Compass Rose, delivered in 2011 and credited with a transoceanic range of some 9,000 nautical miles, engineered as a genuine ocean-going explorer. The yard ceased trading in 2014 and its facility now operates as Blakely Boat Works.
