Lloyds Ships

Lloyds Ships built custom aluminium motor superyachts in Brisbane through the 1980s and into the early 1990s, a period in which the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard credits it as one of the nation's most prolific aluminium shipyards. Several of its hulls carried Italian lines, drawn in collaboration with Fratelli Benetti of Livorno, among them the 37.8-metre Flying Dutchman (1984), a tri-deck yacht whose exterior was designed by Benetti. Its largest delivery was the 49.85-metre semi-displacement aluminium flagship Renegade (1992), launched under Lloyd's Ships Holdings International. The yard has since closed, though, according to the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, people who worked on its builds remain active in Queensland's marine trade.
