The flagship Maori 125: a 10.6-metre beam, 367GT, and an upper-deck owner’s suite with its own terrace.

K+ is a contemporary yacht with a clear design point of view. Delivered in 2023 as the flagship Maori 125, she combines a wide-beam semi-displacement platform with an interior and deck arrangement designed for open living, entertaining and Mediterranean use.

She should be read as architecture on water rather than another modern motor yacht. Her 10.6-metre beam and 367GT volume give her unusual presence in the 38-metre class, while the upper-deck owner’s suite brings a penthouse rhythm to the arrangement: private aft terrace, lounge, dressing area and generous bathroom.

Inside, Pulina Exclusive Interiors created an open-plan, contemporary environment with broad glazing, high ceilings, a full-service bar and a sculptural stair connecting the guest spaces. Light, width, flow and privacy are the selling points.

Outside, the 80-square-metre beach-club-style aft deck is the defining feature. With integrated bar, service galley, hydraulic platform and concealed tender and toy storage, the stern is not a secondary space: it is the social centre of the yacht.

The shipyard

THE CAPTAIN'S YARD

A Livorno-born skipper who learned yachts at the helm, then built them on the edge of the Costa Smeralda.

Oberdan Chimenti, born in Livorno in 1969, began his career captaining pleasure yachts. Managing refits led him to building, and he went on to make composite hulls for motor and sailing boats for yards such as Mangusta and for designers such as Vismara.

In 2002 he opened a shipyard in Sardinia, just outside the Costa Smeralda, building fast tenders for large yachts, some for Wally, alongside a small series of custom boats. In 2007 the operation became the Maori Yacht brand and launched its first model, the Maori 50. The yard is based at Olbia.

From 2017 Chimenti worked with Studio Marco Ciampa and Studio Nauta Design on the Maori 78, which evolved into the 80 and then the 86, and on the LIMO. The yard credits Ciampa as the designer behind all Maori yachts.

Then came a step up in scale. The flagship Maori 125 was launched in spring 2022, with exterior by Ciampa, naval architecture and engineering by NavalHEAD, and a vacuum-bagged GRP/carbon infusion hull.

That first Maori 125 is K+. She measures 38.2 metres, more than 12 metres longer than the previous Maori 80 flagship, with an interior by Pulina Exclusive Interiors. Northrop & Johnson lists her as built in 2023, with a range of 4,200 nautical miles. She is the yard's flagship.

A Sardinian architecture practice whose yacht work centres on one builder.

Studio Architettura Marco Ciampa works from Via Olbia 38 in Olbia, Sardinia, mainly in architecture, interior design and yacht design. In yachting its work centres on Maori Yacht. For the Maori 125, the studio drew the exterior lines, and Alessandro Pulina designed the interiors. BOAT also credits Marco Ciampa with the 24.2-metre Mama-G (Maori Yacht, 2021) and the 26-metre Maori 86 (2026). K+ is a 38.2-metre Maori 125, built in 2023 as the yard's flagship model. Her exterior lines are by Architettura Marco Ciampa, and her interiors are by Pulina Exclusive Interiors.

PISA TO DUBAI

A Pisan studio that started with yachts and now designs homes and hotels as well.

Alessandro Pulina was born in Pisa and studied yacht architecture in Florence. In 2014 he set up Pulina Exclusive Interiors. The studio is based in Pisa and has since opened further studios in Shanghai and Dubai. It once worked only on yachts, and it now also designs residences and hotels. Its yacht interiors include the 54.4-metre Romeo 55, the first superyacht from Dubai's Romeo Marine, and SilverYachts' catamaran SpaceCat. K+ is a 38.2-metre Maori 125 built in 2023. Her interiors are by Pulina Exclusive Interiors, and her exterior lines are by Architettura Marco Ciampa.
