A 2020 Riva Argo 90 with lines by Officina Italiana Design and a top speed of 30 knots.

NOI is a Riva Argo 90 launched in 2020, with sharp, sporting lines by Officina Italiana Design. Twin MTU 16V 2000 96 engines give her a top speed of 30 knots, and because her waterline is under 24 metres she is set up for owner-operation and quick coastal passages.

The flybridge carries a helm station, a dining table, a wet bar, sun loungers and seating. A sunpad fills the foredeck, the aft deck takes an outdoor dining table, and the teak swim platform is electro-hydraulic. Her aft garage holds a Williams SportJet tender and a Jet Ski.

Inside, the style is current Italian: fine timbers, Calacatta Austral marble and panoramic glazing. The main salon pairs a lounge aft with a glass dining table seating eight, and the galley, fitted with Miele appliances, is planned for a professional cook.

Four cabins sleep eight guests. The full-beam master is on the main deck, with big windows, a central bed and its own bathroom. On the lower deck are a full-beam VIP, a cabin that converts between twin and double, and a further double, each with an en-suite. Two crew cabins house four crew.

Twin Seakeeper gyros (SK9 and SK16) improve stability, and she has upgraded navigation and AV equipment plus tropical air conditioning. Finished in metallic Regal Silver, she is among the more fully specified boats in the Argo 90 series.

AFTER THE STORM

A boatyard on Lake Iseo that began with storm repairs in 1842 and now launches 54-metre aluminium yachts.

Riva dates from 1842, when a storm wrecked the fishing boats on Lake Iseo. The young shipwright Pietro Riva repaired them, then opened his own boatyard at Sarnico. His son Ernesto fitted the yard's boats with their first internal combustion engines, and after the First World War Serafino Riva moved production from transport boats to motorboats.

In the 1950s and 1960s Carlo Riva built the wooden runabouts that made the name, among them the Aquarama of 1962. Riva built its first fibreglass boats in 1969 and its last wooden runabout, Aquarama Special number 784, in 1996. Carlo Riva sold the yard to the US firm Whittaker in September 1969, and the family's involvement ended in 1989. Ferretti Group acquired Riva in May 2000.

Officina Italiana Design, founded by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, designs the entire fleet; its exclusive contract was renewed in June 2024 to run until 2030. Riva builds at Sarnico (27 to 68 feet) and La Spezia (76 to 130 feet). Its Ancona Superyachts Division covers 76,945 square metres, with platforms for 50-, 60-, 70- and 90-metre hulls. The first Riva 54Metri, all-aluminium, 54 metres and under 500 GT, was launched there on 7 August 2025 as the largest Riva yet built. BOAT reports a 70-metre project due in 2028.

THE RIVA PEN

Two designers in Bergamo, an exclusive tie to Riva, and exteriors for Sanlorenzo as well.

In 1984 Mauro Micheli won a Riva competition and joined the yard as an assistant. He was born in Adrara San Martino in 1959 and had studied at the Brera Art Academy in Milan. Ten years later he founded Officina Italiana Design in Bergamo with Sergio Beretta, who began his career in the aeronautical sector. The studio has been exclusively linked to Riva and designs both the exterior lines and the interiors of the whole range. Its work includes Sairu, a 54.8-metre Riva 54Metri launched in August 2025 as Riva's largest superyacht to date. For Sanlorenzo it drew the exterior of the SX88 crossover, launched in 2018, and of Alchemist, a 61.87-metre 62Steel delivered in 2022. Two of our listings carry its name. Noi, a 28.49-metre Riva Argo 90 from 2020, is Officina Italiana inside and out. Zaffiro III, a Sanlorenzo SX88 delivered in 2020, has exterior lines by Officina Italiana.
